Financial inclusion and capability

Financial inclusion can be defined as the ability to access appropriate financial products and services, in order for everyone to manage their money effectively and have the knowledge, skills, confidence, understanding and motivation to manage their money well.

By working together our aim is to take action to give advice to make sure that Derbyshire people have enough to live on.

To achieve this aim we set out the following objectives:

  • improve access to financial products by increasing awareness and participation in credit unions
  • improve financial capability and numeracy skills through training and education
  • improve financial resilience by helping people to maximise their income, promote a saving and insurance culture, and by providing access to good quality advice
