The Health and Social Care Act requires us to establish a statutory Health and Wellbeing Board.
The Health and Wellbeing Board is required to:
-
develop a joint health and wellbeing strategy and joint strategic needs assessment
-
support joint commissioning of NHS, social care and public health services
-
ensure close working relationships between Public Health England, NHS, local government, Director of Public Health and GP commissioning groups
-
provide a framework for commissioning plans for the NHS, social care, public health and other services to best meet health and wellbeing needs
-
ensure that services improve health and reduce inequalities
The full Board is now established and met for the first time on 23 May 2013. Councillor Dave Allen, Derbyshire County Council Member for Health, is Chair of the Board.
